Summer Drive-In Movie!

Last month we invited some friends from our ward to an old fashioned Drive-in movie up out in the country above Houston to see Toy Story 3. It is pretty much THE only way to watch a movie in the theater when you have kids, because if they scream...who cares...you are in your car.
Jamo the party animal...watching Toy Story 3

Such a good way to spend a summer night!

Before the movie we ate and did some fishing at Jeff's sisters house. Giff and Maddox showing off the fish they caught.

Some events in the month of June...

We witnessed quite the event last month as our friends John and Bonnie blessed their triplet boys Sam, Will, and Andrew. It was impressive to see John give three baby blessings in a row!

Enjoying a relaxing Saturday with friends at Pirate Beach in Galveston. Our friends Giff and Jenna Nielsen taught us a game "Ladder Ball" and we have become obessed with it since.
Jamisen continues to grow up and he is a goofball...

Visit Daddy at work day! We are so lucky Jeff's firm is at an office building really close to our place so we get to meet up for lunch!

How did we get a morning baby??

Jeff and I have always been night owls. Throughout our marriage we have always perpetuated each other to stay up late each night...to the point where it is often 1 or sometimes 2 a.m. when we finally go to bed. Both of us agree as well that the sound of the alarms on our cell phones in the morning is one of the most horrible sounds in the world. So how in the world did we create Jamisen who looks like these pictures at 6 a.m. every morning?? He is always so happy when we wakes up and is always laughing and smiling. Sometimes we will take him out of his crib and put him in bed with us in the morning (like these photos taken a couple months ago) and he thinks it is funny to slap us in the face while we sleep to get us to wake up and then laugh about it, and then climb on Jeff and tackle him because he wants to wrestle. This is his subtle way of telling us to get up and it is time to play. We both have to admit it is pretty cute, and definitely a better way to start the day than listening to our annoying cell alarms.

Summer Fun

Summer has definitely arrived in Houston! In spite of the extreme heat and humidity, we have been trying to get out and do lots of summer activities. Here's a sampling of what we've been up to:

Astros Baseball game - they actually won that night against the best team in the Major League...Tampa Bay....pretty impressive if you know the Astros record!

Horse Races! It was really fun to see a race up close and personal. The horses were beautiful and I've always wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby (mostly just to wear a huge fancy hat!) :)

We had a swim party at Rich and Beck's house. There were a total of 5 babies under 9 months there! John and Bonnie Clowney came with their triplet boys and it was so fun to see them! They are such sweet boys! This picture has 4 of the 5 babies. We were wishing we had a fifth Bumbo!
Jamisen is still trying to figure out if he likes his raft!
Bonnie and I showed up with the exact same swimsuits! Great minds think alike!
We have been wanting to go on the paddle boats at Hermann Park since we moved here and we finally did one Saturday with our friends Zach and Nicole Lambert and their son Roman. Jamisen was not a huge fan of the large life jacket he had to wear but he did well.

Lambert Family

Jamisen and his friend Roman. He loves Roman and wishes he could be big like him
One day we watched our friends daughter Eliza. She was born 2 days before Jamisen and it is so fun seeing them go through different milestones together. She is such a cutie!

Anniversary in South Padre Island!!

To celebrate our 4 year anniversary, Jeff took off work and we went on vacation to South Padre Island which is an island in the Gulf of Mexico. We stayed in a hotel right on the beach, so it was so nice to just go and relax. The bad thing is that we were dumb and got burnt on the first day we were there. It was also our first real far away vacation with Jamisen. He loved the beach and we are pretty sure he ingested an unhealthy amount of sand...but I guess that comes with the territory. We had such a great time...and it was an amazing way to celebrate 4 years of marriage!

We got some bubbles and a kite from the store and Jamisen loved watching the both of them.

He loves his dad...
At the restaurant we went to they had live music, and the guy playing loved Jamisen and actually dedicated and played a song for him.
We love Jamo's chunky little feet...they are like bricks. :)
Jamisen was being a stinker and kept waking up in our hotel room throughout the night, so Jeff took him out to the beach each morning at sunrise so I could catch some extra sleep. This is a cute picture he took, and also explains why he is in his pajamas.
We saw a sea turtle in the water which was amazing...

We also visited a place where they save injured sea turtles so they can be released back in the ocean.

We also had a stopover in Chorpus Christi which was a really fun town. The weather was hot and nice, and we strolled up and down the boardwalk.
Jeff and Jamisen doing some father-son fishing off the dock into the ocean...as you can see they are in heaven.
In Corpus they have this huge retired war ship called the USS Lexington. Apparently it is one of the most famous World War 2 ships. Supposedly it is haunted by soldiers that died in it...a little creepy.

4 years!!!

This post is definitely late but I wanted to quickly mention that Jeff and I just celebrated our 4 year anniversary earlier this month! I can't believe how quickly time flies. I am so grateful for Jeff in my life. He makes life fun and exciting. He always know how to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. One of my favorite things about him is his eternal optimism. He is always looking on the bright side, even when I try really hard for him to admit something stinks, he just won't do it. He can see the good in any situation and I love that! It has been the greatest thing watching him become a father. He is so good with Jamisen and it is so cute to see him dote on his little boy. I could go on and on but I will just say, I love you Jeffy and I'm so glad you're mine! :)

Weekend in the Texas Hill Country

Here are some pictures from a couple weekends ago on our trip to Austin and Fredricksburg. The weather was gorgeous and the scenery was beautiful. Nothing like a relaxing weekend getaway!

Frolicking in the Bluebonnets

Beginning in March/April the Texas bluebonnets come out and it is amazing to see field after field of blueness. When the girls came into town at the beginning of April we drove out to the country and got some bluebonnet shots. My cute little man

This pose has become a tradition for Cascia and I to do whenever we get together for girls weekends. Two years ago she visited us in Utah and we jumped near some tulips (below). As you can see, my jumping skills have improved . . . a little bit. I think I am trying to channel a crane in the one below? Keep in mind I did not do cheer in high school so this stuff is hard for a tall person like myself! ;) Anyways, after several tries and laughing fits we got the picture above. I'm pretty impressed if I say so myself!
