October was a busy month with Jeff and Jamisen both having birthdays. With my birthday in September and then Jeff's and Jamisen's one week apart in October I am usually all partied out by the end of October. But don't get me wrong...I do love a good excuse for a party!
Jamisen turned 2 this year. I know it's cliche and all but I don't know where my baby went! He is acting like a big boy in so many ways and it really makes me sad. It's funny because most people I talk to say they cried at their child's first birthday but I didn't. I was excited for him to turn one and begin new adventures so when he approached his second birthday I was caught off guard by how sad and nostalgic I felt about losing my "baby". Anyways, enough of the mushy gushy and onto the party! :) Jamisen is seriously in love with cars. He really loves anything in the transportation department (i.e. airplanes, trucks, boats, trains, etc) but he especially loves cars. You can always find him holding hot wheels cars and I discover them all over the house in all sorts of places. Jeff and his sister and mom set about to make the perfect "race car" cake. I am thoroughly impressed with the end result and Jamisen loved it!

For several weeks leading up to Jamisen's birthday we would go to Costco and always see this huge Mickey for sale. Jamisen loves Mickey Mouse and watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse in the mornings so he would get super excited whenever we saw Mickey. Every trip we would go over so he could hug Mickey and talk to him and he was always sad when we had to say goodbye. He even got to the point where he could recognize the Costco sign from the parking lot and he would point and say "Mickey!" After all of this Jeff was convinced we had to get it for his birthday but I was still being a stickler. I really did not want a life size Micke
y taking up space in the house and being in the way. Finally after more discussing I caved and we bought Mickey. It was so priceless when Jamisen was opening presents and we brought Mickey in the house. His eyes got big and he gave him a big hug as seen above. Now it feels like we have a fourth member living in our house because he is so big but it is definitely worth it!
Jeff turned the big 2-9 this year. I made a triple layered ice cream cake and some other goodies and we had some friends over to play games and celebrate.

These pictures are out of order but I don't want to take the time to figure out how to correct them. Jeff's parents and sister JoLynne and her family came to visit for Jamisen's birthday. At the time they lived in Portland but were moving back to Texas so they made one last road trip to see us. We were so happy to have them with us for the festivities. One of the days we drove to a small town south of Fresno called Hanford to eat at Superior Dairy. I had heard it was a 1920's ice cream parlor that served homemade ice cream in huge portions so we wanted to check it out. Huge portions was right....see exhibit A above! The ice cream was really good and Hanford has a cute old town charm to it.
We also stayed a night at my parents cabin in Shaver Lake. We checked out the dam they are building and went to see some giant Sequoias. Lastly we squeezed in a night at the Big Fresno Fair. I actually went on one small roller coaster which is quite the accomplishment for me.
In October my cousin Cara got married. She looked so beautiful....a real life Barbie :)
We went to my parent's ward Halloween party and Jamisen had fun being with his cousins and getting lots of candy.
On Halloween night we went to a friend's house and took all of our kids trick or treating together. One of the families had a huge great dane dressed up as a horse and since Jamisen was a cowboy it seemed fitting that he should go for a ride on the "horsey" :)
I love this picture. Jamisen is in love with his friend Addi. At one point we told them to hold hands and go to the door together to ask for candy. They held hands the whole time and it was so tender to watch
One night we carved pumpkins. It's really not fun to carve pumpkins when Jeff is a master at it and my skill level is carving two eyes and a mouth. I think this year we came up with a good system. I cleaned the inside because I love to get the guts out and then Jeff carved the masterpiece above.
